Services

Most businesses have powerful, comprehensive and expensive technical IT solutions but very many fewer have effective business IT solutions and this is often because they have removed their generalist IT Manager function. Back in the 1990's businesses had generalist IT Managers who worked on both the technical and functional sides of IT and pulled together all the elements of the business solution and made it work but these people have been replaced by technical specialists or have been outsourced so in many ways this function is no longer being carried out. We need to revive this role and that is the objective of Craft Way Consulting and the services it provides.

The services are aimed at filling the gap between what the traditional generalist IT Manager would have done and what existing staff and suppliers currently provide. Craft Way Consulting whenever possible will work with existing staff and suppliers to help businesses design, implement and maintain their business IT solutions and help them truly get good value from their investment in IT. No business can afford over-engineered, over-priced and under-delivered business IT solutions but we can help.

The portfolio of services provided include:

Day-to-day:

  • Managing your technical IT suppliers.
  • Supporting your IT staff by providing on-going help and assistance.
  • Improving and managing your data.
  • Turning data into information.
  • Improving the understanding and use of existing systems.
  • Integrating systems to become solutions.
  • Developing standards, working practices and procedures.
  • Providing client specific/procedures-based training.
  • Developing simple add-on applications.

Longer-term:

  • Developing business/IT strategies.
  • Helping with package selection.
  • Project management.
  • New systems implementation.
  • Re-engineering data and business processes.
  • Developing bespoke applications.

Craft Way Consulting can best help businesses by forging long-term trust relationships with them; by getting to know their business/IT environment in detail; and by becoming a 'friend' to the business.
